probably not the right place to ask, and I probably won't get an answer, but what are the nefarious uses of these high ports? I know next to nothing about networking and I'm curious.

I do the same on CNR servers (I don't listen to music while racing) It's really nice having media controls on my keyboard, and I don't really notice any FPS drop, then again I have WMP running most of the time anyway, just stopped.

I don't drift, but I don't see what the huge deal is with increasing the steering lock. Sure it's not realistic on a production car, but how many production cars are available with a locked differential, or adjustable braking force, or changable gear ratios? These are all settings that would require parts changes, so would changing the steering lock, I don't see why it's an issue. Drifters are paying customers, too.

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :As for people who insist glitz, glamour in "sims" makes them "1337" (a la GTR2...)..... It's like heading down to the bar and picking up some hottie bar fly chick with fake boobs and daisy-dukes, and getting a quick romp in the hay; leaving you with nothing more than an itchy crotch and an empty wallet in the morning. LFS is more like the medium-pretty girl who has character and substance underneath... You should marry LFS, it can only get better with time like a good marriage, because it's not built on superficialities. The bonus with LFS is that one day it'll turn into the hottie just to finish it off. Conversely, the "sim whores" of the world have no hope of ever having the substance they lack which is tragic indeed.

Jeff, man, that is amazing

Try driving an old car with bald tires in the rain, it's not fun. I have brand new rain tires on my car, and I've still hydroplaned, it's scary as all hell when you're not expecting it.

Quote from _rod_ :I need to know how is the structure of my texts, spelling and stuff like that. Unless you want me to write you some essays I dont think you can help me much from the msn.

This sentence doesn't quite work, you have a subject, but not a predicate.

The simplest way to fix it would be to say, "I need to know how the structure of my text is." However, it would be written better as, "I would like to know how to improve the structuring of my text," or "I need to know if my text is structured properly."

This is actually a fairly complicated sentence, so you're certianly excused from any grammar errors in it.

I've been 96 GTS ever since I've been on forums, so it's natural for me. I like using my real name in my racername though.

I was also thinking 250LM, but it has a flying buttress, not a sloping rear window. I have no clue what this car is

Ugh, I know it, I'm pretty sure Alain DeCadenet drove one on Victory by Design. I think it's a front engined 250LM with some of the styling of the mid engine 250LM. Or I could be completely off...

<edit>Nope, I don't think so, I just looked in a couple of my Ferrari books</edit>

I'm guessing we're all better at avoiding drivers going the wrong way around the track.

Probably better at avoiding people who don't start when the lights go green. Better at avoiding people that just slam on the brakes the second they cross the line, too

I have a 20GB Toshiba Gigabeat. It has a magnesium case and a really scratch resistant screen, which I like a lot. The biggest thing is that it works with my Napster to go. That's an absolute must for me. I really like being able to download as much music as I want and put it on my player for what's essentially the price of one CD a month. Yes I know I'm supporting Microsoft and DRM, but I don't personally mind paying for my music.

I've used about 12 GB of space on it, I've got 2542 songs

To be honest though, if it worked with Napster, I'd probably get an iPod. I wouldn't get one because they're "cool" or everyone has them, though. I'm just a sucker for design, and I like how sleek the iPod looks; that's the same reason I love my Motorloa PEBL phone.

Quote from Tweaker :Hmmm, don't you think this is a bit of an overstatement? It's the other way around, especially for our society acting so blind of our own faults *cough*

I don't see why people just look at the whole picture here and realize the meaning to why they did this to the Porsche. They are well built cars, until you blow them up . And it being a TV show has nothing to do with them having "free time" or older British men... hell, it is their job to entertain. Bleh..... nevermind me

I was being sarcastic, sorry. Seeing this reminded me of the video a while back of the kids over revving an RX7 and blowing the engine. I was thinking of all the comments about how that video represented American society and everything that was wrong with it. I was simply turning it around.

I meant it as a joke, I thought it was so over the top that everyone would get the sarcasm, and I wouldn't need to use emoticons, clearly that was not the case

This is a perfect example of the wasteful British. Older men in England, especially television hosts, have far too much spare time. They have no concept of the true value of something. To their generation, everything is just disposable. It truely is sad what British society is coming to.

Chips

BMW or Mercedes?

This sounds like a blast, I'm definitely in.

I love the trackday idea. I do this with the AI when I'm bored and there's no one online.

Fern Bay is the best and most realistic environment for a trackday, but Aston Club works really well too. Please keep it to Fern bay though, that's a very underused environment

Quote from obsolete_power :These wheels are so weird that I wouldn't even think about putting them on my car. They make any car look like shit!

As stated above, the sidewalls are taken off for promotional and press purposes, if the tire were to go to market, it would have sidewalls.

Quote from mrodgers :I want more than this suggestion. I want Microsoft Car Simulator, but I want stuff like LFS merged into it, as well as stuff like Hard Trucking, and of course the Flight sim. I want to drive from track to track in my road car on real roads obeying real traffic laws (unless I want to take the chance of the cops ) and jump in my race car at the track and race. I want boats out on the rivers, head to the airport and rent a Cessna to fly. Make more of a game in it where you must have a way of making money. Race and win money, drive a taxi or haul with a truck for cash. Buy a plane and fly people. You could have folks into the racing and folks who are willing to haul the cars from track to track and others to fly the drivers from home to the track. The physics must be real like in LFS, the cars must be real as in GT4 (yea, yea, I know. You get the idea).

One giant community merged. The race simmers, flight simmers, and The Sims simmers all merged together. That would be really cool.

We have that already, it's just out your front door, it's called life

Joking aside, I agree 100%, that would be amazing.
